Windmill Hill City Farm is taking part in a Cool Space Trial with Bristol City Council. This trial is to form a network of spaces where communities can find support during hot weather and heatwaves. It’s similar to the warm spaces scheme, but during the summer.

During cool spaces, we’re promoting the farm as a place for people to cool down, with free drinking water, seating to rest a while, accessible toilets and cold drinks for sale. Our shady green spaces, such as the picnic area and the wildlife garden, are naturally cool, and our café offers a place to rest, enjoy a cold drink and access support.

The trial will run from 1st July to 30th September. Lots of other community spaces are taking part, such as Lockleaze Hub, St Werburgh’s, and Eastside Community Trust.

As part of the trial, we are asking visitors to complete a survey about how they used the cool space. If you would like to share your thoughts about The Cool Space Trial, follow this link.

We hope the trial will help recognise the farm as the cool refuge that it is during hot weather and help demonstrate how essential we are to the community.
