Stone The Crones: an evening of spoken word from elder women

Join local Poet Beccy Golding for an evening of spoken word recognising the energy, wisdom, talent and creativity of elder women.

Poetry group Stone the Crones, set up by Beccy after being awarded a grant from Bristol City Council Originators Fund, is about finding voices and reclaiming the concept of crone as a fierce, strong, wise elder woman.

“Stone the Crones is about recognising the energy, wisdom, talent and creativity of
elder women. Bristol’s women have long been at the cutting edge of creativity in the city – it is
important that as they age their experience, skills, cultural capital & strong fierce voices are not lost.”

The monthly evening events will be held in the beautiful café at the farm, on the second Saturday of each month.

Beccy said “Although the focus is on the work of elder women, the audience is open to
all ages, genders & communities. Everyone is welcome to celebrate Bristol’s fierce creative women!”

The evening event includes open mic slots (sign up on the night), 2 headlining sets from more established older women writers, and some silly fun audience
participation. After the formal event there will be time to hang out and socialise to a backing track of classic 80s tunes.
