These baby yoga classes from The Happy Parents’ Club are for babies from around 10 weeks to pre-crawling.
Baby yoga classes are all about the baby. There are postnatal moves for mum and stretching moves for any parent or grandparent. You don’t ever have had to have been to a yoga class before but you and your baby will benefit.
Baby yoga can calm or stimulate your baby and there are a wide ranges of movements that can be combined to aid your baby’s development. Babies respond positively to touch and stimulation from birth and this is a time where you can connect with each other and learn more about what your baby likes and dislikes. It helps to build co-ordination and balance whilst helping babies’ physical, emotional and social development.
The yoga for the parents focuses on strengthening core muscles, improving posture and balance and helps to relieve post natal aches and pain. It’s also an opportunity to meet other parents and form friendships.
Each session will contain some of the following:
Gentle dry massage over clothes
Yoga moves that have been specifically adapted for babies
Some postnatal yoga for new mothers
Songs and rhymes whilst practicing yoga movements
Baby yoga can be practiced anywhere at anytime and everything that you learn in a class you can take away to practice at home.
You’ll learn holds for your baby, do some stretching and postnatal / core strengthening yoga work for you but baby yoga is primarily for your baby. You’ll learn some songs and rhymes, play some games whilst doing some adapted yoga moves for baby.
There’ll be a short relaxation at the end. All of this will help your baby’s developmental milestones (rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking) through fun interaction.
Tuesdays 10.45am to 11.45am
