Pear Blossom is the room for children from 1½ to 2½ years. We have space for six under 2’s and twelve 2 to 2 ½ year olds at any one time as the adult:child ratio is 1:3 for the under 2’s and 1:4 for the 2 to 2 ½ year olds. We are a team of qualified and experienced members of staff, each of whom acts as a key person to a group of children. We ensure that a strong and secure bond is created with both the child and their family from the early stages all the way through their time with us.
The room is warm and bright with a range of toys and resources accommodating different areas of learning including a creative area, mark making area, ICT area and a sensory area. Each day the children will enjoy a variety of activities including singing, dancing and listening to music as well as enjoying the great outdoor environment. We also have a separate area for the children to have a rest and sleep.
Our outdoor environment consists of a soft floored area which is sheltered; this allows us to access the outdoor environment in all weathers each day. The outdoor also includes sand and water play and a gardening/digging area. We also have a large wooded area which has lots of natural and flexible resources to encourage children’s creative and imaginative play; this space is safe and accessible and used everyday. We go outside to play in all weathers and so ask that appropriate clothing is provided by parents/carers. When adult:child ratios allow we aim to visit our local community e.g. visits on the farm, visits to the library and our local park.
Whilst our daily routine has some structure to fit around activities, meal times etc. we allow a high degree of flexibility allowing us to accommodate individual children’s needs, interests and routines.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework which involves close observation of the children and planning of their individual needs and interests to enable each child to further extend their development.
All of our activities are based on the children’s interests and we work towards developing their learning. Each child is treated as an individual and our aim is to make every child’s experience of coming here as welcoming, homely and fun as possible.
