In the Apple Blossom Room we can accommodate twenty children at any one time as the adult:child ratio is 1:4. We are a team of qualified and experienced staff, each of whom acts as a key person to a group of children. This room is where children aged 2 to 3½ learn to further develop their social and independence skills and get as messy as they can!
The room is bright and spacious and designed to encourage children to flourish to their fullest potential.
The room has designated learning areas e.g. mark making area, creative area, quiet area, ICT area and more. The bathroom/toileting area is a shared facility with the Pear Blossom Room (1½ – 2½ years). Many children that join our room are in the process of being toilet trained; all our staff are happy to support the child and family through this stage. Many of the younger children who do a full day need a sleep/rest mid afternoon; we have a shared room where we are more than happy to support each child’s needs and well-being in this area.
Each session is planned according to children’s interests and their stages of knowledge and development. All staff work together to ensure that children have the opportunity to engage in a variety of rich and stimulating activities that meet all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Our outdoor areas consist of a sheltered all weather area and a woodland area which has a giant tree trunk to explore, lots of loose parts allowing the children to be creative and imaginative and sensory panels where children can explore different shapes and natural textures. It is our aim to offer a free flow play environment in which children can choose to play either indoors or out; as a staff team we take pride in ensuring that there are sufficient resources and play opportunities in all areas to stimulate and challenge all the children and their differing needs.
Our aim is to offer all the children an enjoyable and stimulating learning environment where each child is valued as an individual and has the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential.
