Bristol Summer Holidays – Wednesday 24th July to Sunday 1st September 2019

Windmill Hill City Farm is open during the summer school holidays, so why not bring your kids to the farm for some fresh air and outdoor fun.

Here are some Bristol school holiday activity ideas for you:

Family Pond Sessions

Thursday 25th July and Wednesday 21st August – between 10am to 12 noon and 1pm to 3pm

Join us to explore our wildlife area and see what’s living in the pond.

Children must be 3 years or older

Cost: FREE

Mini Pizza Making

Wednesday 31st July – between 10am to 12 noon and 1pm to 3pm

Families will be able to design and cook their own mini pizzas in our woodburning oven.

Suitable for all ages but under 8’s must be accompanied by an adult

Cost: £2 per pizza (low income families free)

Thursday 1st August – 10am to 2.30pm (£20 per child)

Thursday 15th August – 10am to 12 noon (£10 per child)

Farmcraft is a real life adventure session held on the farm, linked to the kids’ popular computer game Minecraft. We will be spawned in a new Biome called “Windmill Hillcraft” where we have to collect ore, stone, wood and gold to swap for tools, resources and equipment in order to gain XPs.

Tuesday 6th August – 10am to 12 noon

Ever wondered what happens to our sheep’s fleeces? Watch demonstrations by our expert spinner – and even have a go yourself!

Thursdays 8th and 22nd August – 10am to 12 noon

Lots of outdoor fun and fresh air, with activities such as pizza making, feeding the animals, crafts, shelter and fire building.

Suitable for 6 to 10 year-olds

Hammers and Nails

Wednesday 14th August – between 10am to 12 noon and 1pm to 3pm

Make your own unique creation out of wood using hammers and nails in our drop-in sessions.

Children must be over 6 years old and accompanied by an adult

Cost: £2 per child (low income families free)

Water Play

Wednesday 28th August – between 11am and 3pm

Have fun with water in our outdoor play area! Build your own water system using recycled drainpipes, bath tubs, pumps, buckets, climbing frames, pots, watering cans and hose pipes. 

Suitable for children of all ages and abilities

Outdoor Play Area

The play area at the City Farm provides a safe place for children and young people to play during the summer school holidays. The low-level structures, nets and features provide interest to spark the imaginations of both young and young-at-heart and the landscaped environment provides a space for families to picnic.

In 2018, we invested in a new 3G sports pitch. The high-quality, shock-absorbing surface will enhance the sporting experience for local teams!

Mini Potters

Tuesday to Saturday – 10am to 4pm

Mini Potters is a paint-it-yourself pottery shed, where adults and kids can come down and create beautiful keepsakes or special gifts for any occasion – be it bespoke pottery pieces or clay imprints.

Farm Trails

There are a number of trails you can follow during the summer school holidays to learn more about the history, animals and plants in the area while exploring the farm and gardens.
