Preparing the GroundPreparing the plot
by Pam On the plot we started by digging the plot with the spade by digging a spades width and turning the soil we removed as much weeds, roots and stones as we could see using the hand trowel and trowel. Then we raked the soil smooth and watered the plot well before planting the seeds to the depth and space recommended on the seed packet. We used a tape measure and a piece of string tied between to sticks to make sure the planting measurements was correct we then well watered the plot.
Extract from Pam's Journal Started the Healthy Growing and Eating Course by having a look around the City Farm. We saw ducks and geese, chickens, sheep, lambs and goats. Blossom the pig had given birth to 14 piglets on September the 25th. Little did we know then how interested certain geese would be in the project. In the afternoon we met Francine we spoke about our aims and what we would like to cook. I made Sweet Potato Soup which was my first taste of Sweet Potato.
