Everyone is welcome to indulge in the urban oasis of the Community Gardens. Whether you wish to sit and immerse yourself in the view or take a more active role in shaping your community, our green space is perfect.
Teams of volunteers join staff to share and learn skills as we tend the land and grow food with "zero air miles",which is sold in the shop and used as ingredients in thecafe.
Our food is grown following organic principles.
We also run a number of private plots, for hire by residents.

people gardeningDuring the spring we are busy sowing, hunting slugs and planting. We join the local 'Seedy Sunday' event and hold plant sales.

The summer finds us watering and weeding as we continue to sow
and harvesting increases. We also like to visit other projects or show our talents at shows such as the Federation of City Farms and Gardens (we won 5 awards in 2008). Staff cook veg volunteers have grown, for volunteers in our 'Cookathon'.

In the autumn community gardeners enjoy the fruits of their labour and prepare for winter. We carry out big jobs such as building and fixing raised beds.

Join us for a spot of Wassailing in the orchard with a warm spiced apple cheer!

Our resources are excellent: greenhouse, polytunnel, ponds and over 20 veggie beds,
nature garden and orchard. We grow fruit , veg, herbs and flowers.
Please see the courses section more formal learning opportunties or contact Becky Thoburn or Nicki Bacon for volunteering opportunities on: 0117 963 3255.
